BREAKING NEWS 4.15PM: A vicious bag snatcher is being hunted after striking twice last night - punching women in the face before robbing them.
The first happened at around 9.40pm in Ivatt Way, Westwood, when a 27-year-old woman walking alone was approached by a man on a mountain bike.
He asked the woman for her handbag, punched her in the face and grabbed the bag. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at Peterborough District Hospital.
The offender cycled to the end of Ivatt Way towards the Rhubarb Bridge.
Postcard PrintingThe attacker is described as white, aged between 20 and 25, 5'10" and stocky with short brown hair. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt.
The second happened at around 9.55pm Mahina Replica in Bretton Way, Bretton.
A 53-year-old woman was walking alone when she was approached by a man on a mountain bike who punched her in the face and stole her handbag. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at Peterborough District Hospital.
DC Kevin Poole, investigating, said: "These were vicious and unprovoked attacks which we believe are linked.

"One of the bags contained just 50 pence the other [pounds sterling]3.
"It is vitally important that anyone with information gets in touch.
"We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen these attacks or recognises the description of this man."
